about us
Our goal is to be our customers' first-choice supplier for all their plastic moulding requirements
Laurence Wettern (Managing Director)
AAV Plastics is a dedicated trade injection moulding company supplying high-quality components to a diverse range of industries from agriculture to high-end electronics.
With 11 injection moulding machines ranging from 25 to 330 tonnes and shot weights from 1g to 1kg, we offer a broad production capacity. Our in-house finishing services include packaging, assembly, ultrasonic welding, CNC gluing, punching and machining operations enabling us to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Our fully equipped toolroom features conventional, CNC, and EDM machines, allowing us to support tooling development, modification and maintenance under one roof.
What sets us apart is our creative, solutions-driven approach to customer challenges. We don’t just mould parts. We collaborate from the earliest stages of product development. By prioritising design for manufacture, we ensure your parts are optimised for production, performance, and cost-efficiency.
We believe that strong customer relationships are at the core of our business. This has enabled us to serve a wide range of clients across various sectors, producing batch volumes from 100 to 500,000+ using tooling methods ranging from fully CNC-machined aluminium (7000 series) to hardened steel tools with complex features such as side cores and lifters.
Our expertise helps clients bring products to market efficiently and cost-effectively through:
Early-stage understanding of your product’s purpose and goals
Creative, critical thinking during design
Material recommendations based on application requirements
Deep tooling knowledge and unconventional problem-solving
Cost-benefit insight across parts, sub-operations, and tooling
We also welcome enquiries for existing parts and tooling. Our competitive pricing, rapid response times and fully equipped in-house toolroom mean we minimise downtime and consistently meet production demand.
Our Story
AAV’s story began in 1989 with our namesake product, the Air Au Vin winebreather. This innovative creation breathes wine by gently bubbling air through it, allowing you to enjoy its full bouquet and flavour within minutes of opening. Designed and developed by Laurence Wettern, it became a commercial success and laid the foundations for the business.
Recognising the potential of our manufacturing expertise, we pivoted in 1992 from producing a single consumer product to becoming a trade injection moulding company. This transition enabled us to serve clients across multiple industries, applying our skills to a wide range of components and assemblies.
Although the spirit of entrepreneurship and invention remains a core part of the business. We have also designed many of our own products that are still in production today, including the Ringbin, PL80 party plate, hands-free drinks holder and Tigrox banner.
In 1998, the business moved into a purpose-built factory in Bridport to meet growing demand, followed by a major expansion in 2006 that doubled both its size and operational capacity.Today, AAV supplies more than 280 companies and produces over 3 million mouldings each year, delivering quality, reliability and innovation to every project.
